Chelsea Ladies took the 3 hour journey up to Bristol at the weekend and put on a fine display of footballing class.

The lineup stayed merely exact to that of the past three games for the Blues, and it showed on the pitch that this crop of players had begun to gel! With Natalie marijetic, Dani Kemp and Emily Stanghon all called back into the squad, the bench was filled with quality, as well as the other 11 players on the pitch!!

The game got started almost immediately for the blues, when Kirsty Hewitson netted her first goal of the season on two minutes, from a wonderful cross from 16 year old Gina Michaelas. Bristol came back stronger towards the tail-end of the half, but rarely threated the Chelsea goal. Their first real attack came on the twenty-fifth minute when Siobhan Chamberlain, captain for the match, collected the ball outside of her area (was booked as the result), and Bristol forced a magnificant save from the captain, from the resulting free-kick.

After the girls had received their second half instructions from Manager George, they picked up where they left off, and scored their second goal 10 minutes into the second period, coming from Jennifer Ray with a spectacular curled effort from the edge of the box... Chelsea now looked in control, but Bristol came back with an instant reply two minutes later, with a scrambled header from a corner.

Natalie Marijetic, Dani Kemp and Emily Stanghon all made their first appearances in four games and blended in well with the young and prosporous Chelsea team, adding their experience and quality to the side once again.

Chelsea held out for all three points with brilliant performances coming from Gina Michaelas on the right wing, Kirsty Hewitson at left back and in particular, Player of the Match, 15 year old Katie Kirby.

George commented after: "The last three games have been very frustrating because we have played some superb football and not got the results. But today we proved what quality we have in our squad and can now get our league campaign back on track!"
